Welcome

Millions around the world believe in a god. However, they do not believe God is involved in human life. To them he is far away, impersonal, is not be involved in their daily living.

globeThey seek help and mediators from the spirits of their ancestors and nature. They believe these forces and powers dictate the rules and events of daily life. They live in fear of offending the “spirits” and when something bad happens, they believe they must appease these precarious, unpredictable spirits. They live in fear of each other because they do not know what “power” their neighbours might use against them if offended. There is also fear of being overcome by witchcraft and evil spirits, enemies and friends, sickness and death, poverty. They trust in “good luck charms”, amulets and practise superstitions to avoid bad luck. They live in bondage to systems of “salvation by works”. They vainly hope that their good works will outweigh their bad works.

They need to experience the grace of God! To give them a system of Christian doctrines is not the answer to their primary need. They need the biblical view of God and his power as well as what he has done through Jesus the Messiah, his special Son. They need to turn “to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescued us from the coming wrath” (1 Thessalonians 1:9,10). “For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).

They need to see Jesus as a real man. Not as a “blond hair, blue eyed” European or American religious being. His humanity and divinity must be presented. Christianity must not be presented as an intellectual response to a series of correct doctrines. It must be an answer of the heart to the love of God. The Bible must be presented to the nations as a realistic account of God and people. Not simply as a source book for doctrine.

Christianity is the only world religion based on the grace of God and not on “salvation by works”. While others work to be saved, Christians work because they are saved.
